NDP Reacts to Government's Trans Mountain Announcement
NDP MP Nathan Cullen speaks with reporters on Parliament Hill about the government's next steps for the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion. Ottawa is giving the National Energy Board 22 weeks to review the project's impact on the marine environment. Last month the Federal Court of Appeal overturned cabinet's approval of the $7.4-billion project, ruling that the NEB's approval process was flawed and that the government did not adequately consult with Indigenous groups before approving the expansion. It also ruled the NEB failed to take into account the impact of increased tanker traffic on the Southern resident killer whale population on the Pacific coast. (September 21, 2018) (no interpretation)
