Yazidi Women Comment on the Need for Trauma Care Programs
Speaking with reporters on Parliament Hill, NDP MP Jenny Kwan, representatives from the Women Refugees Advocacy Project and female Yazidi refugees discuss a petition that calls on the government to keep its promise to provide trauma recovery programs for Yazidi women in Canada. Kwan will table the petition in the House of Commons after question period today. The House of Commons passed a motion in 2016 for Canada to provide asylum to women and girls from the persecuted minority group who survived ISIS enslavement in northern Iraq.
