Status of Women: April 8, 2021: Sexual violence prevention educator Julie S. Lalonde and sexual assault survivors Christine Wood of It’s Just 700, a military sexual-trauma survivors’ group, and Stéphanie Raymond, a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces, appear before the House of Commons Standing Committee on the Status of Women. Calling sexual assault in the Canadian Armed Forces a "national embarrassment" and a "systemic issue", they demand a significant change in the military culture and that the committee recommend "urgent" action to ensure a respectful and safe work environment.
