Fisheries and Oceans - November 18, 2020: Fisheries Minister Bernadette Jordan takes on questions about her government’s handling of the dispute over Mi’kmaq treaty fishing rights, including her position on the Marshall Decision— the Supreme Court of Canada decision which confirmed Indigenous rights to fish for a moderate livelihood. Central to the conflict in Nova Scotia is lobster conservation and the lack of a clear definition of “moderate livelihood” in the Marshall Decision. Also speaking to the committee is the Department of Fisheries and Oceans’ Doug Wentzell.
