Blanchet Discusses Outcome of Election, Proposes a Health Summit
Speaking in Montreal, at his first press conference since the federal election, Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet suggests that Prime Minister Trudeau get to work quickly and hold a summit with his provincial counterparts about health care funding and federal health transfers. Blanchet says that he has discussed the idea with Quebec Premier François Legault and the latter’s Ontarian counterpart Doug Ford. According to the Bloc leader, this is an issue that must be dealt with as fast as possible. As he stated during the election campaign, Blanchet plans to reach out to each federal leader to agree on common ground that would enable Parliament to function. (September 22, 2021)
