Speaker Rota Apologizes for Recognition of Man Who Fought in Nazi War Unit
Speaker Anthony Rota issues an apology in the House of Commons chamber for recognizing a Ukrainian who fought for a Nazi unit in the Second World War. Rota invited the individual to Parliament Hill during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Ottawa on September 22, 2023. The 98-year-old war veteran received an ovation from attendees at Zelenskyy's address to Parliament.
