Banff World Media Festival – Pink Paper on 2SLGBTQ+ Representation
The Banff World Media Festival, an international conference on the state of film, television and digital content creation, takes place in Alberta from June 9 to 12. The festival brings together the world's top studio executives, creators, producers, showrunners, talent and media companies. In this session, Pink Triangle Press (PTP) unveils its inaugural Pink Paper on LGBTQ2S+ representation in Canada’s screen-based industries. This is the first in a series of reports focused on LGBTQ2S+ representation. David Walberg (executive director of Pink Triangle Press) presents the PTP's comprehensive analysis of LGBTQ2S+ representation within the Canadian media landscape. His presentation is followed by a panel featuring Emily Hampshire (actor, writer and producer), Cassandra James (actress), Michelle Mama (co-founder of the GAY AGENDA production company) and Alexander Nunez (writer, actor, and producer with Border2Border Entertainment) and moderator Michael Serapio (anchor at the Cable Public Affairs Channel). The Banff World Media Festival, an international conference on the state of film, television and digital content creation, takes place in Banff, Alta., from June 9 to 12. A panel discussion is held on what recent regulatory changes mean for Canada’s film and television industry and how small, medium and large players can work together. Taking part are Anthony Q. Farrell (creator and showrunner of Canfro Productions, ULC), Jocelyn Hamilton (president of television at Lionsgate Canada), Monika Ille (CEO of Aboriginal Peoples Television Network Inc.), Troy Reeb (executive vice-president of networks and content at Corus Entertainment Inc.), and moderator Glenn Cockburn (president of Meridian Artists).
